DIY SOS Christmas Special – The Igneus Classico!

DIY SOS – All it took was one phone call…

In late summer this year, we were very kindly approached by the research team working on the BBC’s DIY SOS Big Build for their forthcoming 2017 ‘Children in Need’ special.

It turns out that Nick Knowles and the rest of the DIY SOS team were embarking on their biggest ever challenge in aid of Children in Need during early September down in Swansea, and they needed our help to supply a high quality Igneus wood fired pizza oven with a stand for this amazing project. We didn’t think twice, because we love to support really worthwhile causes and believe me, this one is very worthwhile!

Because it hasn’t yet been broadcast, we’re not yet allowed to show photos of the project, but what we can say is that you will simply not believe what the DIY SOS team achieved in just 10 days. It is simply stunning.

The programme is set to air at some point during Children in Need week which culminates on 17th November 2017, so keep your eyes peeled on BBC1 to see what great job they have made in supporting some of the less privileged children of Swansea in Wales. TOP JOB LADS!

The DIY SOS team descended on Swansea to tackle one of their biggest challenges to date: building a centre and supported housing for young people in care and leaving care. This special DIY SOS shares the stories from some of Wales’ most vulnerable young people as well as the founder of the Roots Foundation Wales, a charity that supports young people in and leaving care.

The team, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, built a bespoke new centre and transitional flats from the ground up for Roots, a charity part-funded by BBC Children in Need, despite storms and a tight 11 day build schedule.
