Burrata Pizza
Burrata pizza is a deliciously indulgent dish featuring a crispy crust, tangy tomato sauce, and creamy burrata cheese that melts beautifully when added fresh after baking.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- There are a few options when it comes to making pizza dough. We have two dough recipes to choose from: ’00’ flour dough and White bread flour dough. Alternatively you can order some of our pre-made dough: Neapolitan dough or Gluten Free dough.
For the Pizza:
- 1 ball of burrata cheese (about 200g)
- ½ cup marinara sauce or crushed San Marzano tomatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (a handful)
- Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: Prosciutto, arugula, or cherry tomatoes
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough (if making from scratch):
- Follow the instructions for your chosen recipe or allow your pre-made dough to proof.
2. Preheat the Oven:
- Heat up your pizza oven to 350-400°C.
3. Stretch Out the Dough:
- Stretch out your dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness (about 12 inches in diameter).
4. Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Drizzle olive oil over the sauce and sprinkle with dried oregano and red pepper flakes if desired.
5. Bake the Pizza:
- Use a pizza peel to place your pizza into your pizza oven.
- Once your pizza is in the oven you will need to turn the pizza every 20-30 seconds.
- We recommend using a turning peel as it allows you to spin the pizza without having to remove it from your pizza oven.
- Pizza ovens cook pizza very quickly (usually 60-90 seconds) so make sure you keep an eye on it as it is cooking to prevent it from burning.
6. Add the Burrata:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately place the burrata ball in the centre. Use a knife to gently tear it open, allowing the creamy interior to spread across the pizza.
- Add fresh basil leaves and season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
7. Optional Finishing Touches:
- For a gourmet touch, top with thinly sliced prosciutto, arugula, or halved cherry tomatoes.
8. Serve and Enjoy:
- Slice and serve the pizza immediately. The creamy burrata pairs beautifully with the crispy crust and tangy sauce!
Enjoy your homemade burrata pizza! 🧀🍕
